Mary Lawrence, “Head Wagger”, has more than 25 years experience in pet care management including breeding and whelping of various dog breeds, proper nutrition, and administering both oral and injectable medications. Mary’s passion for animals provided the incentive to open a full-service boarding and day care facility for dogs. After having carefully chosen a location away from main thoroughfares that would provide a happy, healthy, and fun place for dogs to romp about, Tailwaggers opened its doors in 2008.
Prior to establishing Tailwaggers, Mary bred Jack Russell Terriers. She owned “Mack”, sire of over two hundred puppies to local bitch owners in the state of Georgia. She assisted in many of their deliveries and continues to stay in touch with several owners of Mack’s offspring. Mary has participated and competed in the “Go to Ground” competition at area dog shows. She also has an extensive background in farm management, which includes the breeding and showing of American Quarter Horses.
Mary strongly believes in supporting her community by participating in civic activities. She has sponsored 5K events to benefit Challenged Child and the American Cancer Society, as well as hosted rabies clinics to benefit the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia. She has contributed funds to local elementary schools involved in sports programs, to Still Waters Counseling Center for families in need, and has also donated services to our National Guard Service, Hospice, and the American Cancer Society.
Laura Rueter has loved dogs since childhood. She’s worked with them for over 10 years in the capacity of vet tech, kennel tech, grooming assistant and has been certified in basic dog training and she also has experience in correcting behavioral issues. Here at Tailwaggers, Laura works very hard to make sure the pets are always safe, well cared for, and getting plenty of hugs! Having fostered and placed over 200 dogs and cats, Laura is actively involved in pet rescue. Currently she has several rescued pets including a pit bull, a handicapped Chihuahua, and three kitties. And, at any given time, she’s likely to be fostering one or two more!
Tailwaggers is fully insured and is licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
